Hawaiʻi Bird Field Guide Drive for Teachers

Updated: Aug 11, 2021

Purchase Field Guides for Teachers Today, and Learning Endeavors will Deliver Them.

At Learning Endeavors we strive to find innovative and fun ways to teach our keiki and community about science and technology, specifically as it pertains to the natural world. The importance of the diverse and intricate ecosystems of the Hawaiian Islands is something that we should all learn about and respect. It is for this reason that we have decided to host a Field Guide Drive for the month of August, running from the 9th until the 31st.

We have chosen to hone in on native bird species, since many are at risk. Birds are important for many reasons, including their role in food webs, soil formation and retention, and so on. Help our keiki learn about these native species and how they can protect them through place-based learning. You buy, we deliver.

If you would like to participate in our Hawaiian Bird Field Guide Drive we would greatly appreciate it! We will be collecting three different guides:

1) Hawaii Birds - A Folding Pocket Guide to Familiar Species by Kavanagh and Leung

2) Hawai'i's Birds and Their Habitats by H. Douglas Pratt and Jack Jeffrey

3) Hawaii's Birds by Hawaii Audubon Society

All guides can be found easily on our Amazon Wishlist, as well as certain bookstores around the state, such as the Kahului and Ala Moana Barnes and Nobles, BookEnds in Kailua, Talk Story Bookstore in Hanapepe and Kona Bay Books in Kailua-Kona. Head over to our Support Us Page for more details on how to donate!

Help students take flight with native Hawaiian birds.
