Kūlanihākoʻi Kai

To Enhance Ocean Exploration Education at Kūlanihākoʻi High School

  • An Ocean Explorers Club was established for students interested in Marine Science.

  • Whale Watch Excursions in March 2025 engaged students in field study with NOAA Hawaiian Island Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary Research Scientists.

  • Students visited the Hawaiʻi Wildlife Discovery Center in Whalers Village.

  • Ocean Bathymetry Hands-on and Technology Lessons were facilitated in class.

  • Virtual Reality Headsets were in class used to Explore the Deep Ocean.

  • A college student Marie Tharp Internship Program was established.
